every movie ever made jacks material from [obscure foreign film]

It's not obscure at all. It's like Set Design/Horror Movie 101 in film school.

Couldn't finish watching Oldboy. Both revulsed and couldn't relate to any characters who all act CONTRARY TO LOGIC. I think I just don't get Korean films, didn't really like The Host all that much either, way too much random strangeness.

Let the Right One In was brilliant. Kicking myself for not watching it earlier. Will be amusing to see just how badly the American remake will butcher it.
Oldboy makes sense once you get to the end, and it blew me away. It amazes me that someone could come up with such a story to tell. You just have to put up with/enjoy the weirdness of it until it makes sense.

Let Me In stars Hit Girl!

RSF, The Squid and the Whale was a really nice little film. I'm planning to watch Greenberg soon as well. James Murphy!

Big Fan was odd, but it was enjoyable. Nothing special.

Watched Letters from Iwo Jima, feels kind of like what The Pacific should have been, except told from the Japanese point of view.

People keep telling me Letters from Iwo Jima is really sad after they watch it, but it didn't do much for me at all. In fact, the whole Japanese mentality that I've seen from media does not make much sense to me.

Just came back from the A-Team, which went just as expected really. Over the top action all the way. Meh.

Can't wait until Inception.

I found the Japanese mentality to be downright retarded. I could not find any way to pity or empathize the characters. I mean, they're supposed to fight and keep their honor, I get that...but then they just kill themselves in a cave, which literally inflicts no damage upon the enemy American forces at all. I mean you could at least suicide bomb them or something like that which I could understand or even fight to the death which I would pity, yet respect because they faced insurmountable odds and a medieval honor code. But instead they chose to kill themselves, alone in a cave for literally no reason. I guess the only thing I feel bad for is their stupidity.

Oh, and I thought the movie's garbage effects (ya I know, low-budget) didn't help at all. All around the movie was flat out terrible, and I hate when my friends try to tell me it's good because it shows the "sad Japanese side" of the war.

I'm amazed that I could sit through the 3h20 of Seven Samurai and not get bored once.
