if your top five isn't
1. vp
2/3. sk+mym
4/5.  weg/xsk/eg/mouz/ks/etc.

then your ranking has failed.  i would imagine the entire community agrees on at least the first 3.
and wtf @ mym=h4nni, merlini, mania, maelk, p0c

how old is this thing?

and who the fuck are kupo attack.

you sir radiate intelligence.

The fact is these rankings are based on Fire & Ice performance, and MYM was the only significant European team that played there last year.

It's good to have multiple ranking systems, because one or both often have flaws, so it's good to have different perspectives on who is the best in the world, because it is obviously a highly debatable subject. Though this one is still in the works, it looks like it has potential to be a pretty accurate system in 6-12 months time.

it should be called "fire & ice ranking" or "lan ranking" but seriously not world ranking.

It seems that only about 10 percent of the people that post on this subject have reading comprehension skills. Try reading the post before you post out of your ass and flame.

Why the hell would you post this now?  You should absolutely wait until you are basing your data off numerous tournaments (at least 5-10 large tournaments imo) because right now the only thing it shows are the final rankings for a LAN tournament that occurred 6 months ago.  Even with the Dreamhack results tabulated this so called "World Ranking" is a TREMENDOUSLY inaccurate depiction of the relative strength of DotA teams in the world.

Please change the name of this post to "Ranking of the Teams that competed at LAN Tournaments Dust-Off feels like recognizing" and then delete it.

Asus>Dreamhack DotAwise btw.

LOL this thread is pure joy. I can imagine Marcou going "*FACEPALM* IT IS LAN EVENTS ONLY SICE FIRE & ICE 2007 SMART PEOPLE."

Two ... three tournaments are not enough to a make a "world" ranking, especially when DotA is still an Online game rather than a LAN competitive game (for most teams).

Not including ASUS and Asian WCG in it is pretty flawed. I suppose these 2 is big LAN tournaments too, no?

The current update only reflects the 2007 FiI Winter tournament, but Dreamhack placings will be added shortly.

It's not even a post that warrants a tl;dr, so there's absolutely no excuse to be blind.

In order to better facilitate future tournament activity for the Fire & Ice Series (and to you guys something to argue about smile.gif )

I thought the point of this thread was to inform us about the rankings which are still being worked on and to inspire a lively mannered discussion about what we think the rankings "should" be.  Maybe I just missed the point.  The criticisms of the ranking systems seem to be useful though.  It is needed to help find a meaningful system.

I realize that merely asking people which team they think should be at what rank may inevitably turn into a flame-fest.  Just thought this was intended to spark a good debate..

Just a suggestion, if you can include ACG 07 & 08 and SMM 36K DotA Tournament within your ranking as it's also LAN. Thank you.

Not sure if I have ever seen a greater amount of ignorance in one place in a long time....  Yes, the list isn't complete.  Yes,  its not perfect.  I don't think anywheres does it say "The best most perfect excellent complete list of The World of Dota!".  As he said already it will be updated, take it for what you will till then.  Its not like he is skewing the results he is taking his results and doing with them what he can and thats what the list is.

On a side note I think Asus and Asian WCG should also be added.
