I don't think he meant it sarcastically. It is nice to see someone that retired to still be around the scene, I agree with him actually.

Supa_Fly wins the prize. Just b/c some one has retired doesn't mean the stop existing. I'm glad that he can still find time to help out the community.

Retard interviewer.

QUOTE
How did you find out: "I am the born supporter!"?

QUOTE
i.e. in Diablo 2 you are rather playing Paladin, in WoW Priest?wink.gif

QUOTE
What is your favorite support hero and which one do you hate like the plague?

And anyway, this interviewer probably just read about the Paladin. Hammerdin pwned everything np. Those 'aura paladins' were fables and lame players reading Blizzard strategy guides.

I feel that support players must have more skill than carry heroes.

Yes, carry heroes will change the game when the opportune time comes around mid to late game.  But here's my reasoning for why support players must be highly skilled, even more than carry or gank heroes.

Support heroes must :

1.  Do more with less.  They must be effective throughout the entire game with a constant lack of gold and exp.  Rather a carry or ganker has treads and probably their first main item, the support will only have a boots and a bracer maybe.

2.  Must always know how to juke well and survive.  Support heroes are generally easier to kill heroes.  They have low hp and low stats, and are constantly targeted.

3.  Must have extremely rape map awareness.  What I mean by this is that they must do all the warding, all the ganking, all the dirty stuff.  Carry's merely must last hit and hug the tower.

4.  Support heroes must stay positive eventhough they are rarely acknowledged.  Support players must realize that the greater good is much better than the greater K:D ratio.  Support players must really understand what DotA is all about, and that great teamwork leads to victories, not just going beyond godlike.

Just my 2 cents.

Check out replay on garena, DTS vs FnaticMSI. Dendi playing shadow priest. Imo, that was perfect example of how to play support.

:essential post about NS being greatest support player to ever play dota:

100% Agreed. I just loved it how he completely neutralized the enemies vision of a particular half of the map, mostly the Sentinel jungle. His team (Virtus Pro) then completely moved to that half, stayed there for dozens of minutes just ganking around and farming the shit out of creeps and neutrals.

NS didn't just put some wards where the scene tells you do to it, he had his own way of placing wards.
A crucial element back then for VP's domination tour.

But in the defense of the nowadays top-notch supporters: Back then you could actually place all the wards with the crow, which of course made that whole aspect a lot easier.

Backing up your opinion usually goes over well.

Cool interview, being a supporter myself (although I do play a couple carries, I usually find myself low on farm because I rush to help my team at every possible interval).
