if you wanna go with Brit Punk music at least go with decent Brit Punk. I suggest you try these albums, they are British and related to Punk:

The Smiths - Meat Is Murder
The Clash - London Calling
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

If you want to go for some different direction, just try around some really.

How about

nvm ill put up vids

just throwing random recommendations really, you could also tell us what kind of music you enjoy listening to that isn't top40 crap, because evidently a lot of people enjoy listening to top40 crap so it doesn't really tell much about your preferences ~~

>British punk
>no mention of Discharge

Although, not sure if it would be in his taste.

top 100 of any single year lately will get you a shitload of complete crap, pitchfork gives popular artists good scores because they are popular.

but if you like shit like black eyed peas and tpain and shit like that then yeah i guess.

I don't like tpain and shit like that... the only rapper I listen to is lil wayne because it's stoner rap an he has the right mentality for rap imo; that is, not givin a shit.

If pitchfork gives me nothing but pop, generic falloutboy-esque hipster music, chammer's music (sorry chams i just don't like your music), an all the other garbage that the school I only recently graduated from listens to, then I'll pass and stick with my stoner music, classic rock, and weird but good metronomy-esque music.

Ps this isn't directed at you synegh im just too lazy to wait for my ipod to load plus it can't fuckin scroll through posts as I'm writing them. This 60 second post took me the better half of 10 mins. Zappa's p good.

Listen to Ice-Cube. He's so, so much better than Lil Wayne. I personally like The Predator album, but everything he's done is good. Get the oldest stuff first. I can PM you mediafire links if you want

pitchfork likes maybe the 10% of my music that's mainstream enough for them to attract an audience

yeah affinity is a bit confused, i think he thinks pitchfork = what redsoxfaithful listens to, ie shitty indie pop

i have only gone to pitchfork a few times and read through a few lists and quite a few reviews, and decided i didn't really like them at all. i think they're trying much harder to show off their writing skills than their music reviewing, and ultimately it just leaves the reader at a crossroads. many reviews are so shoddily written that the score is the only factor that the listener has to go by and simply would've been better off listening to the album themselves and making up their own minds without having the taint of some idiot in his head.

anyways i did find out about this one band that i think is actually pretty cool from pitchfork, here's a tube:

Aha, so true. Then again I don't read reviews from other sites either since it's much more fun to just listen/interpret it yourself than having someone frame your expectations.

I just go to pitchfork to get recommendations from the indie sorta scene, they really do review quite a few good albums. To really read through the reviews or to use them as your only music blog/site is just silly though.
