So as I found out from the one and only PITCHFORK, Titus Andronicus' first single from their upcoming second album is out.  It's 8 minutes and split into two parts and it sounds really good!

"Run" reminds me of "M79".

It's kind of sad when it's only taken half a month for this year has already surpassed the last one in metal for me.

Particularly In Vain's Mantra:
IPB Image

... but also In Mourning's Monolith:

which is a rather decent follow up to their debut. And no, the fact both band names start with the same word doesn't diminish their awesomeness. Also apparently there's another half a dozen other albums already worth checking out too, not to mention supposed new Atheist album coming happy.png

I'm quite skeptical.

But supposedly Comeback Kid, Casper and La Dispute are all releasing new stuff this year :3

Hey, Cynic came out with a great comeback many years forward, I'm sure they can too. Also who are they?

listened to the new titus andronicus today.  felt like a chore by the end.  way too long.  there are a couple of really amazing tracks, but too much mediocrity to sift through.

not digging vampire weekend at all.

beach house was alright, certainly better than their other two snoozefest albums.

toro y moi's 'causers of this' is probably the best so far out of this year, but 3 of the songs on it were on a previous compilation.

waiting on new autolux...forever...

Comeback Kid are a hardcore punk band, their albums are okay, but they're live shows are insane, and new album means big tour D=

Casper is a German rapper.

This makes me sad.  I'm really, really enjoying "Four Score and Seven"...

i'm not all that intimate with the album yet so i couldn't spout off song titles, but "four score and seven" and the closing track are among the best they've done.  the first song had me really excited because that was also good too.  the album just drags though.  i admire bands that do longer songs, but it's non-stop with this album, and they could have cut out a couple tracks on it.  it just feels like there's a lot of down time when they go for the slower stuff.  i'm definitely going to give it another try though.

EDIT:
the album reminds me a lot of the Lifted album by bright eyes.  except worse.  a whole lot of the album just becomes so forgettable that the bright spots don't shine as brightly as they should.

Transference is good, a whole lot more like Kill the Moonlight and Gimme Fiction than Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, which I think is very good news.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Transference continues to grow on me.  This is a very, very good album.

And you all know how much I love album closers...  Well, "I Think Ur A Contra" is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs from Contra.

yeah transference is pretty good.  ranking spoon albums is splitting hairs.

and i fucking KNEW that surfer blood album would get best new music from pitchfork.  i think it's an awfully boring album and deserves none of this praise.  man what a boring album.

New Dark Tranquillity reminded me why they are my most precious music band in my whole life up to now.

Damn...
