I thin that was their point. There's a lot of awesome gameplay for a free to play, but if you paid $30 for it there's a distinct lack of content. I love LoL, but people need to stop defending it when people point out something perfectly true. On launch, the store wasn't out, there were no runes, and only 2 maps, one of which is only in practice games (I refuse to count the snow one as a different map). If you preordered so you could have heroes and runes before anyone else, you got kind of shafted, since by the time the store opens everyone will be able to have their favorite champs and access to better runes.
Riot made a good game but really dropped the ball on release.
